About Us
Friendship Education Foundation was established in 2014 as a 501(c)3 non-profit Charter Management Organization (CMO). FEF was created to replicate and expand the Friendship school design nationally. Since then we have opened new schools and managed turnaround and takeover schools in 3 states (Maryland, Louisiana and Arkansas) and the District of Columbia. FEF differs from an EMO because we are a non-profit company.
The mission of Friendship Education Foundation (“FEF” or “the Foundation”) is to create in underserved communities throughout the nation a world-class education that motivates students to achieve high academic standards, enjoy learning, and develop as ethical, literate, well-rounded and self-sufficient citizens who contribute actively to their communities.
The Foundation plans to seek additional opportunities to fulfill its mission to bring a world-class education to underserved communities throughout the U.S. The Foundation has been invited by dozens of states, school districts, foundations, and charter school authorizers to serve local non-profit charter school applicants. The Foundation will be selective about its expansion and only operate in situations where it can assure a meaningful positive impact on traditionally underserved students and communities.
FEF is looking ahead. Our 5-year plans for scaling up and expanding includes:
• 3 new elementary charter schools in Arkansas
• 500 new k-8 charter seats in Little Rock, Arkansas
• 10 new schools in 5 years nationally in targeted states of Prince George's County, MD, Aurora, CO, and San Antonio, TX.
• 3 specialized focused elementary schools
